Democratic nominee for US Congress, NY's 11th District
New York City Councilman Vincent J. Gentile is a former prosecutor and New York State Senator.
In November of 2013, he was re-elected to his third term in the New York City Council by a 27-point margin – receiving nearly 63% of the vote as a Democrat at the very bottom of the ticket – his largest margin of victory in all his years in public office.
Vinnie returned to the New York City Council as the Dean of the Delegation– the senior-most member of the 51-member body. He currently serves as Deputy Leader and Chairman of the powerful Oversight and Investigations Committee.
Whether he's fighting to secure funds for bulletproof vests for the NYPD or to end arbitrary enforcement that squeezes small businesses, Vinnie has dedicated his professional career to public service and considers it the highest honor to represent the people of Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bath Beach and Bensonhurst.
Vinnie was born and raised in Bay Ridge where he currently resides. He holds a degree in Government from Cornell University and a law degree from Fordham University.
