Warren Goldstein is a historian, essayist, and commentator, chair of the History Department at the University of Hartford, and the author or co-author of six books for scholarly and general audiences, ranging from Playing for Keeps: A History of Early Baseball, to William Sloane Coffin, Jr.: A Holy Impatience, to For the Love of Physics (with the former MIT astrophysicist Walter Lewin). Goldstein’s essays about history, higher education, race, religion, politics, crime, and sports have appeared in, among other publications, the New York Times, Washington Post, Chronicle of Higher Education, Boston Globe, Newsday, Miami Herald, the Nation, Christian Century, Commonweal, Tikkun, the Yale Alumni Magazine, and the Huffington Post.
