Istanbul, Turkey...the Local way!

Istanbul, Turkey's largest city, though not its capital, straddling the Bosphorus, boasts a lot of culture, modernity and history all in one. Spotted by Locals Istanbul is our little piece of Istanbul you can take with you anywhere. To give you a taste of what locals do in their free time in Istanbul, here's a small selection of popular tips on the blog.

Obviously you need to taste Turkey's signature dish, Turkish Delight, or Lokum! The best place for this is at Haci Bekir. It's the very first store of the oldest and most prominent family in the business of Turkish delights.

Another recommendation, even though it might not seem very 'local' to you, is the Bosphorous Bridge. Zekeriya especially recommends this bridge if it's very foggy!

Get your own unique perfume made at Arifoğlu, inside the Spice Bazaar.

Go clubbing at NuPera and most definitely visit NuTera, NuPera's roof terrace for a spectacular view.

Dine at White Mill for its organic and healthy menu and stay for their experimental cocktails during happy hour. Try 49 Cukurcuma Cafe's signature Pizza with their own Desperate House Wine.

Kontraplak has the best selection of second hand vinyl, or if vinyl is not your thing check out the music selection at LALE PLAK.
