This event features Michael Govan in discussion with Pritzker Prize-winning Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. The talk focuses on Zumthor's study of LACMA's site and his vision for the encyclopedic art museum in the twenty-first century. The event is presented in connection with the current exhibition The Presence of the Past: Peter Zumthor Reconsiders LACMA, which explores the history of the LACMA campus and presents Zumthor's concept for addressing the museum's original structures and developing architecture that would respond directly to the historic site. This talk is presented in conjunction with the exhibition The Presence of the Past: Peter Zumthor Reconsiders LACMA, which is presented as part of Pacific Standard Time Presents: Modern Architecture in L.A.
