It's the hottest sports story this summer. Mo'Ne Davis, the 13-year-old baseball pitching sensation from Philly, throws a mean 70 mph pitch and just made the SI cover as the first Little Leaguer ever! WOW.
Social media is freaking out, of course. And why not? It's been a rough summer, that's for sure. From the Middle East to the Midwest, the world seems to be on fire, with nothing but bad news.
Meanwhile, Mo'Ne is blowing up Twitter and Instagram with a story you can't write in the movies. First off, the girl's got the goods. She's amazing to watch; 35,000 people showed up at a LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES game, for goodness sake!
And even though they lost that game, Mo'Ne continues to impress. She's calm, cool, and confident. She takes her amazing success in stride. That's usually what winners do.
And even though the loss to Nevada puts Philadelphia into an elimination game on Thursday night against Chicago's Jackie Robinson West, this is only the beginning for Mo'Ne.
#Throwslikeagirl will never be the same. The hashtag is also on fire and has taken on a whole new meaning. And, yes, there are haters. When you get the kind of visibility Mo'Ne is getting, the haters come out to troll. But these days, that just means you're doing something great!
Thanks, Mo'Ne, for giving us something to focus on that positive, exciting, and hopeful. Win or lose tonight, the sky's the limit for you.
