Federal Benefits, OK. But Still No Gays in the Military. Why Not?

President Obama's announcement extending some benefits to same sex partners of federal employees doesn't go far enough. What of his campaign promise to end the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy? Why the delay? Why not include rights for gay and lesbian members of the military?

A provocative video report from The Daily Beast suggests that there has been some horse trading between gay rights groups and Capitol Hill. The deal: Keep quiet on the issue, until we're ready to tackle it. Meanwhile, gay and lesbian soldiers and sailors are being discharged at the rate of two a day.

Sorry folks, but where I come from, the time to stop injustice is the moment you recognize it.
