whitesq.jpgA couple of weeks ago we reported that Brigham Young University shut down the protest of Dick Cheney that was held on campus. Security intimidated students into turning over their protest signs because they didn't want them to carry their signs through campus. You can read what we wrote here.

Our cameras captured the unfolding drama and we're pleased to present a rough cut of it to you here. This is a news-piece that should serve as a teaser to the documentary we're putting together about this developing controversy:

As some of you may have heard, students have put together an "alternative commencement" event at a yet-to-be-determined location. Speaking will be consumer advocate Ralph Nader, U.S. Senate candidate Pete Ashdown and human rights defender Jack Healey. They've struggled mightily to find a venue to hold the event but so far they've been "blacklisted" in the entire city and called out as "heretics". Joe Vogel, one of the organizers, wrote about his experience here. It really seems as though the community is turning its back on them.

In order to cover the costs of the alternative commencement, students will be hosting a free screening of An Unreasonable Man and our film, This Divided State. We couldn't feel more honored then to show our film in hopes that they will be able to get donations from it. For more information about the protests, screenings and the alternative commencement (or to donate to the cause) check here.

And, as always, we'll be covering this on the This Divided State blog.
