Remember Ian Flemings James Bond(007) fighting Dr. NO? We now have Barack Obama(008?) fighting the Party of 'NO.' Republican objective, both implied and even stated by some, is the failure of the Obama presidency, rather than the benefit of their constituents, who sent them to Washington, and pay their salaries (including health care insurance coverage for them and their families).

They cry crocodile tears about the huge and growing deficit, ignoring the fact that they -- remember Wolfewitcz, Rumsfeld, Cheney and "W", who lied to the American people and the world to wage a disasterous inapropriate war which killed and maimed hundreds of thousands of people. At the same time, they, and their cohorts in conghess, refused thpay for this Fiasco, and actually lowered taxes, thereby converting a surplus left to them by the Democrats into a huge and growing deficit.

Our "founding fathers," having recently escaped from the tyranny of George III and the British, favored Democracy -- but not too much. The U.S. Senate is an example of their caution. In that august body, the representatives of the multimillion voters who live in new york state or California have the same two votes as do the representatives of the many fewer voters in, say, Wyoming or Montana. Then, to make it even better (or worse, depending on your viewpoint) they invented the filibuster!

So, gridlock is easy for those who say "no." And the deficit grows automatically, in large part due to the interest being paid on the money we borrow.
