I just love marrying a thought or insight with an image...and if you follow me you can see I share one nearly every day.

I have a very specific idea about how I want people to feel about me when they look at my imagery, and this strategy has worked. It's gained lots of traction and has helped me get thousands of clicks, comments and shares.

Images work so well because they are attention grabbing pieces of 'snackable' content which can evoke emotional reactions, particularly on social media.

I started using visuals in this way when I launched my book From Unknown To Expert, and now it's a central part of my personal branding strategy.

1. Compelling quotes
I write down thoughts, insights and tips each day. The words need to be true to you, memorable and not too long. Also, if they aren't your words, obviously you need to attribute them.

Initially I went through my book and chose some of the most compelling tips and advice. Now I'll read something which triggers an idea, or a message might surface after a meditation.

For instance, on Sunday I was reading my nephew a storybook and loved this, so I turned it into a shareable image.

The important thing is you need to match the image with the quote so they fit together well. The image needs to reflect your brand or what you want people to feel when they see it.

2. Use gorgeous imagery
It's really important that the images you choose capture exactly the feel of your brand.

My visuals have to be beautiful, atmospheric, emotional and heartfelt. I use stock photos as well as the photos I take.

I mainly use Canva to create my images, but you can also use iPhone apps like Word Swag or Over.

3. Brand the image
When I started using imagery in this way, I didn't add my name as I felt it was too egotistical. But I realised I needed to get over it! Now on each image I add UnknowntoExpert.com and my name to help brand the image. Just a tip, make sure this isn't prominent as you don't want to make the experience too promotional.
