Red vs. Blue, the first machinima (animation created with video games) series to get mainstream attention, is now also the longest-lived, wrapping up its tenth season of playing around in the Halo universe this November. And what started out as a kind of Seinfeldian take on science-fiction warfare -- with a bunch of battle-armored grunts sitting around and essentially doing nothing -- has over time become an epic tale of future war, with a parallel "Project Freelancer Saga" using full-on CG animation to add straight-up, ambitious action sequences to the comic mishaps of trigger-happy Sarge and his band of heavily-armed screw-ups.

I met up with RvB co-director Matt Hullum and supervising producer Kathleen Zuelch at their Rooster Teeth booth at New York Comic Con, and we were able sift through the history of the most inept fighting force in the universe.
