This week's Animal Oddity is all about butterflies and drag queens (which makes it one of my all-time favorite blogs posts to write ever).

The wonderful Pandora Boxx of RuPaul's Drag Race fame has created this short video regarding butterflies as her Noodles Butterbach character.

Noodles is of course absolutely correct in stating that it is illegal to molest the monarch butterflies that overwinter in Pacific Grove, CA. In fact, a lot of animals are protected from molestation.

Now get your mind out of the gutter, it's not what you think. Most wildlife protection laws include a prohibition against molestation using the first, non-sexual definition of the word, which according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary is "to annoy, disturb, or persecute especially with hostile intent or injurious effect."

So there you have it, don't molest the butterflies!

Help protect butterflies and attract them by participating in National Wildlife Federation's Garden for Wildlife Month. Get the latest odd animal news, stories and behaviors on my Animal Planet blog Animal Oddities.
