Movement Builds Against the Hostile Takeover of the Democratic Party

Those of us fighting the takeover represent the true "vital center" of the vast majority of America -- and the status quo apologists are the ones wholly out of step with the country.

Bloomberg News has a story running on its national wire today that will likely be looked back on by historians as one of the few pieces that captured the escalating and increasingly successful efforts by the grassroots/netroots to fight back against the hostile takeover of the Democratic Party. As I outline in my new book, Hostile Takeover, this fight is critical to the broader fight against the hostile takeover of our entire government by Big Money interests.

Beltway operatives, consultants and other professional election losers, desperate to hang onto their little fiefdoms, label the populist revolt within the party as supposedly coming only from the "left" -- but as Hostile Takeover details, extensive public opinion polling data shows that those of us fighting the takeover represent the true "vital center" of the vast majority of America -- and the status quo apologists are the ones wholly out of step with the country.

Similarly, as much as corporate-backed, Washington Establishment groups like the Democratic Leadership Council pretend there are no differences within the Democratic Party, it's clear "there's a gigantic gulf in the party" in Washington, as Moveon.org says. Thankfully, as the Bloomberg story highlights, it's also clear that ordinary citizens are now aggressively working to take back our party in advance of the 2006 elections.
