The Secret to Layering Different Eras and Styles

Rarely is a room designed in solely one style or material. The real skill of an interior designer is the ability to work across eras and mediums and create a cohesive space as Rachel Laxer deftly proves in this sophisticated living room. Here, we've created a curation that emulates Laxer's expert layering, pairing mid-century modern chairs and lighting with reclaimed and vintage pillows and a coffee table crafted from a salvaged tree trunk. Mixing also occurs between old and new, vintage and used, and our partners at Chairish, an online consignment shop for décor lovers, helped us get the look.
