Every spring, Mother Nature gives herself a new life. She starts over. Flowers and trees don't remember the winters of their lives. They don't focus their attention on the cold, harsh conditions that made them go into hiding. No, all of nature begins anew in the spring. Wouldn't it feel wonderful to do the same? Completely start over? This spring, play Mother Nature and give yourself the freedom to treat your work, relationships, and interests with a freshness and enthusiasm that pays no mind to what has gone before. Here's how:

Work:

Whether you work inside the home or outside, burnout can be a definite hazard. When you become drained and exhausted, it is because your life is totally out of balance. All work and no play is a recipe for depression, anxiety and stress. Fun and laughter have to be a priority in your life just like anything else. Think of it as an integral part of your job because it is crucial to a life of success and prosperity. You have to make a serious commitment to being silly and goofing off because if you don't, you are of no real help to anyone, least of all yourself.

Relationships:

Really look at all of your relationships. Has your relationship with your spouse or significant other been sitting on the shaky ground of past resentments and mistakes? Have your kids or parents made you feel less than important? Did you get taken advantage of at work or do you sometimes wish your co-workers would quit making things so difficult? Here's the thing, the most important relationship you will ever have is with yourself. You have to be first and foremost in importance in your life; otherwise, you end up falling victim to the fleeting opinions and actions of everybody around you. That is no way to live. So take your power back, make a command decision, and choose the types of relationships you want to experience. I've decided that I'm going to feel "in love," important and confident that I have no battles to fight. Flowers do not fight to be the perfect expression of beauty and life that they are. They just are, and so are you. Approach all of your relationships with a clean slate. It feels so good. It feels so free.

Interests:

We all have our own distinct interests. Pay attention to them. Take full advantage of any inner stirrings that you're feeling at this point in your life. Let them bubble up to the surface and take root. If you feel passionate about something deep inside, then guess what -- it's probably the reason you're on this planet. Don't let another spring go by without taking a leap of faith and loving yourself enough to do those things that make you happy. Start doing things that you feel are fun and exciting and fulfilling. This is your life. You do what you like and other people can do what they like.

Do this exercise: Fast forward and imagine yourself in your 80's or 90's. Look back at your life. Did you accomplish everything you wanted to, or did you waste your life? Quit dwelling on the past and on petty things and get crackin' with a fresh start... don't waste any more time.

The bottom line is you have to break the energy of that which you do not want as part of your life experience and begin a new life experience. Change gears. Change perspective. Change is good. Without taking a lesson from the quintessential example of change, Mother Nature, we would never grow and become all that we were meant to be. There has never been and will never be another you. Give yourself the power to bloom this spring and stand tall as the brand new one and only amazing you.
