Young and Beautiful sounds like a terrible soap opera, but this French film by the director of Swimming Pool centers on a teenager with a secret life as a blasé sex worker. (Actually, maybe it could be a soap opera...) Let's just hope mom doesn't find out!

It's an odd animal: women's literary fiction -- NOT erotica -- with a brazen, sensual and deeply flawed main character. Carmen is perpetually concerned with, touching and baring her body. Yet the sex never becomes the story; it isn't that sort of book.
