3-Year-Old Boy Hit By Flying Bat At Wrigley

A tiny Cubs fan sustained minor injuries at Wednesday afternoon's game against the Miami Marlins when he was hit by a flying bat during the sixth inning at Wrigley Field.

As NBC Chicago reports, the Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton lost his grip on his baseball bat and it flew into the stands, hitting a boy who a Cubs spokesman said was believed to be 3 years old.

The boy was struck in the chin but not seriously hurt as his father deflected much of the blow with his arm, according to the Chicago Tribune. He was back in the stands by the seventh inning after checking in with a first aid crew.

After the game, the boy and his family were taken to the clubhouse and met Anthony Rizzo, according to ABC Chicago. The boy also received Stanton's bat.

The Cubs' Jeff Samardzija, who threw the pitch, told MLB.com of the 3-year-old: "That's a tough little kid right there."
