Looking to take one last trip before your family grows? Zika sure has made that a pain—but as of publication date, these seaside towns, desert resorts, and islands are blissfully Zika-free. Bonus: They offer luxury spas catering to mothers-to-be; great restaurants on the water; and pristine beaches for those mid-day naps. Just be sure to keep an eye on the CDC’s website for updates.

1. Montserrat

Montserrat is what most of the Caribbean islands felt like 20 years ago—no mega resorts, no fast-food restaurants, and no traffic. Instead, think fresh fish caught that morning and served for dinner that night, and lazy afternoons on your own secluded black-sand beach.

2. The Bahamas

The Bahamas have more than 700 islands and cays and average water temps of 80 degrees (year-round!), so you can escape with a quick flight from the East Coast anytime. We aim for Paradise Island, where Graycliff Chocolatier, a chocolate factory that turns out hand-crafted chocolate bars and truffles, will satisfy those cravings; or you can save room for a special dinner out at Todd English’s Olives or Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Café Martinique.

3. San Diego, California

Zika may be sneaking into Miami, but it hasn’t made it out to the West Coast (fingers crossed), and San Diego is is the perfect place to chill (and eat!) before the baby comes. Walk along the beach and boardwalk of Coronado Landing; check out the architecture at Balboa Park’s Prado area; have dinner at the famed Gaslamp Quarter; and then settle in for a little pampering at Rancho Bernardo Inn & Spa. Its babymoon package includes a special maternity massage in the outdoor spa casitas; and a welcome basket filled with snacks, a voucher for an in-room movie, sparkling mocktails for mom, and chilled beer for dad.

4. Amelia Island, Florida

With 13 miles of beaches and a 50-block historic downtown packed with bistros and cafes, Amelia Island is a Northern Florida getaway with active mosquito prevention in place. To relax, visit the shops that dot Fernandina Beach, learn how to make “slow food” at the Amelia Island Culinary Academy, or take a sunset sail.

5. Charleston, South Carolina

In addition to being the friendliest city in the U.S., Charleston also makes for a killer weekend getaway these days, whether you like to shop (check out the boutiques on King Street), go on a food crawl (Husk, Fig, Xiao Bao Biscuit), or do a leisurely mansion tour of Battery Park, imagining where your master bedroom would go.
