I am the luckiest man alive. So much luck has entered my life in the last few years I feel like I have a field of four leaf clovers growing under me. By last account I cannot recall crossing the path of a black cat, walking under a ladder, breaking a mirror, stepping on a sidewalk crack, inhaling while passing a cemetery or keeping my feet on the floorboard while crossing over train tracks. Yup, I'm good that way, but there has to be more to it than that. Of course there is, so I set out to examine exactly why so much luck has found me in the past few years -- and I have compiled a short list of action steps that will virtually guarantee luck will enter your life as well.

PREPARE FOR OPPORTUNITY
Lucky people prepare and welcome opportunity in their lives. If you are the type of person that looks at the glass as half empty, realign your thinking to see it as half full. I am constantly reminded that success and luck come to those who seek opportunity, look for the good in things, and search for the solution in every problem instead of feeding into the problem. Be excited about your future and take charge of making life happen instead of letting life happen.
ACTION OVER ANALYSIS
Lucky people take action. As I speak to people all over the country, one common message remains clear to me -- most people fail to launch because they are so busy getting ready to launch. Stop analyzing what you think you are about to do and just do it. Yes it's true, you probably won't be good at it at first, but with practice, you will get much better. When I first started writing my blog in October of 2013, I had a fear that I would be a horrible writer that no one would want to read. Since then, I have written nearly 100 blogs, invited to guest blog on industry experts sites, landed a blog spot on Huffington Post and written a bestselling book on Amazon. Where the heck would I be if I listened to that inner voice in 2013 and failed to start my blog?
The teacher will appear when the student is ready.
WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND
Lucky people create positive energy in the world. The idea that by doing right by others you will have good things done for you is called karma. A couple things happen when you boost your good deed quota. First, you are creating positive energy and great vibes in the universe. Now before you skip this step and write it off as "There goes Mr. Nice Guy talking about that energy thing again," give me just a moment to explain. When you do a good deed, you create happiness for someone, which in turn will create happiness for you. Happy people tend to pay it forward and do good deeds for others as well. Your one good deed becomes a second good deed. Your positive energy leads to others being attracted to you. Attraction provides opportunity and opportunity brings good things back to you.
BE TEACHABLE
Lucky people are great students. As a former know-it-all, I can assure you, I knew nothing. Early in my career in the entertainment business I thought I knew everything about my market, my services and my competition. I couldn't have been more wrong. It wasn't until a career changing performance in the early 1990s that I realized I needed to be open to the possibility that I had a lot to learn. Once we open up to the possibility that others know more than us, we become teachable. If you learn with enthusiasm and a thirst for knowledge you will put yourself on the fast track to learning. Conversely, if you shut down the learning centers of your brain and turn away from new information, you are also turning away from growth.
Luck is where preparation meets opportunity.
NOTHING BEATS HARD WORK, PERSISTENCE AND DETERMINATION
Lucky people don't give up. If there is a guarantee for luck it would be this: Never quit and I guarantee you will find success and plenty of luck entering your life. Hard working people get very lucky. Combine hard work and persistence with a healthy dose of determination, nothing will stand between you and luck. Thomas Jefferson is noted with saying, "I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." There are going to be times when hard work will actually come easy for you. However, there will be times when you will need to dig deep and work through the pain of a negative attitude, negative people, distractions and detours to get the job done.
Feed your brain with good stuff. Associate with positive people, work hard and you will find plenty of opportunities will find you. Luck will be 100% predictable and you will be able to accomplish anything you set your mind to. I've been enjoying reaching my goal of becoming an author. I have been introduced to some of the greatest people in my industry who have reached out to help me make my dream a reality. Lucky? If you call two years of hard work, determination, persistence, education, and action lucky, I guess you are right, I am the luckiest man alive.
