The era of mobile devices has made us all power hungry!

Let's face it: None of us are happy with the battery life of our smartphones, tablets and headsets.

Well, thanks to the folks at mJoose, things are about to change. They have found a way to give your iPhone 6 and 6S a power boost and increase their range without needing to carry around a portable charging device. They will also be releasing versions for the iPhone 7 and the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge later this year.

The concept is not new. In fact we've seen other companies combining battery-boosting technology and smartphone case before. But the mJoose ($129.99) is the first to combine this tech with a signal booster that can extend the range of your phone in so-called "weak signal areas."

The mJoose case, at first glance, looks like any other smartphone case on the market today. It protects the back of the device and allows for connection to all of the phone's ports and has a cutout for the camera. The difference is the connection on the bottom of the case.

Here we find a connection that resembles the end of the cord that charges your phone, This fits snugly into the port on the bottom of your phone and provides a pass-through port to connect it AND your phone to a power outlet. This allows you to charge your phone and the battery in the case using one cord. They have also found a way to charge your phone before charging the case.

The one we tested worked well and almost tripled the battery life of our iPhone 6. It also doubled - - - and sometimes tripled - - - the cell signal so-called "problem areas" of the house and in areas of Connecticut that previously had weak or no signals.

The only complaint we had was the weight of the case. It's heft, which is probably due to the size of the battery, can be a turnoff to those of us that prefer convenience over technology improvements. But, we feel, the few extra ounces is worth it.

Other key features include:

  • Reduction in radiation exposure of up to 70 percent
  • It doubles the battery life of your smartphone
  • The range extender works with 2G, 3G, 4G and LTE for all carriers
  • You can get up to 14 more hours of video and 60 more hours of music on a single charge
