After visiting Kona two years ago with my husband, I caught the Hawaii bug and decided to explore Maui and see what Maui had to offer. After researching Maui it seemed like a good choice for travelers who wanted a mix of action, rural life, authentic Hawaiian food, and great beaches. The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort and Villas has one of the best beaches and sunsets I've ever seen in my life.

The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort has 1,021 rooms spread over 26 acres, The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort and Villas is one of Maui's biggest properties sitting on a beautiful stretch of beach in North Ka'anapali. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with flowering plants and palm trees at every turn.

I normally only stay at boutique hotels when traveling because of the attention to detail. Smaller boutique hotels treat you as more than just another guest, and what I loved about the Westin Ocean Resort was that I had all of the amenities of a large scale resort and was catered to like I was at a boutique hotel. It was absolutely the best of both worlds. The Westin Brand implies class and elegance and this is evident with the Westin Ka'anapali from the open-air lobby with a vaulted ceiling, silk throw pillows, and shoji screens.

My husband and I stayed in the one-bedroom premium villa. The villa was spacious and included a fully-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, two TVs, a living area with pull-out sofa bed, a large luxurious bathroom with separate walk-in shower, a balcony with two chairs and a small table, and the massive one-bedroom suites with their wraparound windows and the king size Heavenly bed which did not disappoint. Each villa also had two Westin robes, a jacuzzi tub, a spacious Heavenly rain shower to rinse all of the sand away after a day of relaxing on the beach. The added bonus was having a stacked washer-dryer which made it convenient so I wouldn't have to pack dirty clothes for my return trip.

There are 3 restaurants on property plus a Starbucks at the General Store in the South property lobby. The Ocean Pool Bar and Grill, Pulehu an Italian restaurant, Pailolo Sports Bar right by the pool area;.

Our first stop was The Ocean Pool Bar and Grill for breakfast which consisted of pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage and fresh fruit. We also decided to have dinner at Ocean Pool Bar and Grill for our last dinner and I had the whole fish and my husband had grilled chicken.

Next on our stop was the Pailolo Sports Bar and Grill. My husband is still talking about how good the burger was and how he has been dreaming about the burger. I would highly recommend going to Pailolo if for no other reason than to have the burger! I had the hot honey sriracha wings which were equally delicious.

Finally, on our culinary tour of Westin was Pulehu, a swanky Italian restaurant that will leave your taste buds dancing hours later as the flavors linger from the meal you just consumed.
