David Weprin Campaign Ad With Plane Flying By Manhattan Skyline Gets Hasty Re-Edit (PHOTO)

LOOK: Campaign Ad Features Plane By Manhattan Skyline

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has tweaked a campaign ad for David Weprin, the Democratic candidate for Anthony Weiner's old seat in the House, after critics cringed at the original version of the ad which featured an airplane flying low over the downtown Manhattan skyline just days before the tenth anniversary of 9/11:

Two hours after the DCCC released the ad, which apparently cost them $500,000, they removed it from YouTube and quickly re-edited so that that the plane was flying through clouds instead:

For his part, Weprin's opponent, Republican candidate Bob Turner (who's gaining momentum in the race) previously released a campaign ad of his own that included a shot of the smoldering twin towers, a move City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and others denounced as exploitative.

Both Weprin's and Turner's commercials call to mind some other advertisements that, intentionally or not, incorporated 9/11:
