Spanning 10 miles across the entirety of Brooklyn, Atlantic is an avenue of many personalities, some industrial, some artisinal; not long ago, the particular stretch of Atlantic running through Boerum Hill was home predominantly to a thriving Arab community and a smattering of hidden-gem antique stores. Traces of that past remain, but today they contribute to an eclectic mix of old, new, reclaimed and reimagined. Bakeries neighbor fashion designers, who bump up against innovative home stores and urban general stores. If Atlantic Avenue is a microcosm of Brooklyn in total, then the blocks that traverse Boerum Hill are a showcase for new Brooklyn at its best.

Shops like Drape, Meg and Michelle New York offer duds from local designers, while stores like Collier West and Sterling Place sell home goods that would make any brownstone proud. Atlantic's also got a renowned chocolatier, discerning antique shops, and a perfumery that scours the earth for the best hard-to-find scents (some of which come from right here in the borough).
