A Surprising Amount Of Millennials Want Dinner More Than Sex, Study Says

Who's horn... gry?

Food and sex are two of life’s greatest things. Sometimes they’re great together, but they’re also awesome separately.

So when we found a statistic indicating a higher-than-expected proportion of millennials love dinner more than sex, we were intrigued.

The report, from ad agency Havas Worldwide, says that 54 percent of millennials find that “eating can be just as pleasurable as sex.” It also says that when given the choice between sex and “an excellent dinner at a restaurant,” 35 percent would do dinner ― a percentage shared with the boomers (a.k.a a lot of the millennials’ parents)!

Now, we know what you’re thinking: “That’s a third of the respondents. Who are these people who want dinner more than sex?”

Well, a lot of millennials won’t even eat cereal because they’re too lazy to clean up afterward, so that should be the first indicator that sex is too much work for some people.

On the other hand, there are two major things this study didn’t zero in on that would definitely change whether people would rather get down or chow down.

The time of day you ask this question makes the answer hugely variable. Men want sex in the morning and women want it in the evening, so if you’re offering a girl brunch or sex, the odds lean toward mimosas over missionary.

Another thing this study skipped over was the quality of the sex the respondents have had in the past, and the quality of the food they’re being offered. If you’ve had mediocre sex but a dope steak, you’re going to go back to the steak.

All told, the report surveyed 11,976 men and women over 18 years old in 37 countries.

It also revealed that 53 percent of 18- to 34-year-olds classified dining out as their “favorite social activity” and 56 percent consider food shopping “one of their favorite chores.” We hate food shopping but we do love dinner, so this seems pretty accurate.

Let’s just all fire up our Tinder accounts, plan a dinner date, and have our cake and eat it too. How’s that for a happy ending?
