Al Gore Compares Fox News To '24/7 Propaganda Masquerading As News' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Al Gore's Dig At Fox News

Al Gore appeared in conversation with "CBS This Morning" host Charlie Rose at New York City's 92Y Thursday night and had some harsh words to say about the conservative media.

When Rose asked Gore why Obama was "cautious" during his first term as president, the former vice president and Current TV founder spoke about what he called a "hostile environment for progressive ideals."

"And why is that?" Rose asked. He wondered if Gore was referring to campaign financing and corporate donations.

"And Fox News and the right-wing talk radio," Gore said interrupting Rose. "And yeah I mean ... it's not that complicated. In Tennessee there's an old saying if you see a turtle on a fence post you can be pretty sure it didn’t get there by itself. And the fact that we have 24/7 this propaganda masquerading as news, it does have an impact."

Gore has been making the media rounds as of late to plug his new book. He has been asked about the recent sale of Current TV to Al Jazeera, the Qatar-based news network. The "Today" show's Matt Lauer grilled Gore on the reported $500 million sale, as did "The Daily Show's" Jon Stewart.

"You are the poster boy of sounding the alarm of global warming ... Here's where the confusion [is] for me," Stewart said. "Can mogul Al Gore, who has Current TV and sells it to Qatar, which is an oil-based economy—can mogul Al Gore coexist with activist Al Gore?"

Gore defended the sale to both Lauer and Stewart, and touted Al Jazeera's climate change coverage. "It is going to really be a positive addition to the U.S. media landscape," Gore said to Stewart.
