Alan Simpson Admits He 'Made Perfect Ass' Of Himself With 'Gangnam Style' Video, Doesn't Care

Former Wyoming Sen. Alan Simpson (R) knows when he's made an ass of himself, and on Thursday he admitted that he doesn't do so infrequently.

In an interview set to air on Thursday evening's edition of Fox News' "Special Report," however, Simpson proudly confessed to doing an especially good job of achieving that dubious state in a recent viral video that featured the 81-year-old austerity advocate dancing to the Korean pop star PSY's smash-hit, "Gangnam Style."

“I said, ‘What's Gangnam?’ So they put it on and I saw this guy. I couldn't understand anything. They said, 'Well he's Korean, you wouldn't get it.' I said 'I wouldn't get it if it were in English,'" Simpson recalled. "Anyway, so then they said 'Here's what he's doing. ... You do this, you do this.' I said, 'Hell it looks like riding a horse and throwing a lasso. I can do that.' So, I made a perfect ass out of myself which is glorious, because usually it's just making an ass of yourself.”

And that's how "The Can Kicks Back," a campaign focused on cutting the national debt, gave birth to its "Three-A-Week" challenge video.

This particular campaign, aimed at young people, is called "The Can Kicks Back," a reference to the tendency members of Congress have to "kick the can down the road" and avoid making difficult decisions about how to lower the nation's debt. The effort was launched in November, and it is funded through individual donations and by the Campaign to Fix the Debt, which receives major funding from private equity billionaire Peter G. Peterson
