Amy Winehouse Posthumous Album, 'Lioness:Hidden Treasures' To Benefit LauraLynn Children's Hospice Foundation

Winehouse's Posthumous Album Benefits Hospice For Children

Amy Winehouse’s posthumous album will help bring some life to children battling fatal diseases.

The late musician's father, Mitch Winehouse, flew to Dublin on Friday to give the proceeds from "Lioness: Hidden Treasures" –- an excess of $30,000 -- to the LauraLynn Children's Hospice Foundation, the BBC reports. The organization offers care and support to kids facing life-threatening illnesses.

"Amy loved kids and she loved babies," Mitch told the news outlet. "When she passed away the very first projects that we looked at supporting were children's hospices."

After the "Rehab" singer died from alcohol poisoning in July 2011, her parents established the Amy Winehouse Foundation, an organization committed to supporting vulnerable youth.

“Our foundation is in place to help charities and projects that make a difference and nowhere is this illustrated so well as at LauraLynn,” Mitch told the Sun. “We are honoured to be able to make this donation in Amy’s name and know she’d be proud too.”

The two foundations are strikingly similar in both their missions and beginnings.

The appointed charity was founded by Jane and Brendan McKenna after they suffered the devastating loss of their two daughters, Laura and Lynn. Born with a hole in her heart, Laura endured two serious surgeries, but died when she was 4 years old. On the day that Laura passed away, her old sister, Lynn, was diagnosed with leukemia and succumbed to the disease when she was 15.

"Jane lost two daughters," Mitch told the Sun after having met the charity’s founder. "What must that be like?"

In addition to donating the money generated from "Lioness," the late vocalist's father plans to give away the proceeds from his book "Amy: My Daughter" to the LauraLynn house, too.

"We can only second guess what Amy would have wanted,” Mitch told the BBC. “But I know she would have wanted to support this charity."
