Yes, I know - Barack Obama's election is a fresh start for the country, a time to put old bitterness and recriminations behind us and focus on the future, rather than the past.

Still ...

Like so many people, I am incredibly bitter about what's been done to this country for the past eight years. And the fact that so many of these clowns, who have abused power for political and profiteering ends, will probably walk away scot-free on Jan. 20, winding up as trivia questions and little more, really rankles.

Since the night of Obama's victory speech, I've been harboring a fantasy of extreme rendition. In my mind, it plays out a lot like the closing montage of The Godfather, except without the gunfire.

There would be Pres.-elect Barack Obama, standing on that massive podium in front of the U.S. Capitol, one hand raised, one hand on a Bible, reciting the oath of office. And after each meaningful phrase, the camera would cut away to images of:

- Dick Cheney, standing over a shredder in his office, being confronted by U.S. marshals and placed in handcuffs.

- Karl Rove and Harriet Miers, being clapped in irons as they got out of a limo.
