For those who know me and what I stand for, they know that I rarely, if never, become emotionally angry. But today I am not only angry... worse, I am ashamed.

Why am I angry and ashamed? Because of this article from The Huffington Post.

My anger is with those in Congress who are so busy lining their own pockets and those of their financial supporters that they are blind to their real responsibilities; and I am ashamed to be part of a country whose legislators feel that profit outweighs humanity 100% of the time.

Having said that, I refuse to allow my anger or my shame to control me. Rather, I propose to take action. Here is how:

I am hereby issuing an open invitation to the entire House Ways and Means Committee to join me for a day visiting with the very children they have denied -- and at my expense -- since the only thing they seem to respect is "cash in hand."

I want them to sit with some of the children face to face and hear their stories and see the pain and anguish in their eyes. I want them to see the bruises and scars from the punishment these children have endured. I want them to look these children in the eye and say "I am sorry, there is nothing I can do help you."

Then we will go to the corporate offices of two of the companies that benefit from the tax breaks they have agreed to, and we will take the children with us. We will hold a meeting with all the management of these companies and make them listen to these children for just one hour. Then I want these managers -- in their fancy offices with their Armani ties and Manolo Blahnik shoes -- to come up and look these children in the eyes and tell them "I am sorry; I cannot help you."

After those two days, I challenge any of these totally irresponsible people to sleep at night!

My offer is open and I will wait to hear from you!
