'Angry Birds' For Google Chrome Announced At Google I/O 2011 (UPDATE)

'Angry Birds' Comes To Google Chrome

Rovio's Peter Vesterbacka just took the stage Wednesday at the Google I/O conference to announce a brand new WebGL version of "Angry Birds" for Google Chrome.

Thank to Google Chrome's offline caching, the entire "Angry Birds" game will be playable without an Internet connection. A high-definition version will also be available.

Of course, what's a new "Angry Birds" release without new levels? Rovio is introducing new Chrome levels complete with Chrome bombs, clouds and other elements.

The Mighty Eagle, which lets you pay to instantly beat a level, will also go live on Chrome via the the Web Store's upcoming in-app payment system.

The game is available now for free on the Chrome Web Store.
