”I just don’t like Angelina Jolie,” Chelsea Handler once said. “I don’t think she’s a girl’s girl. I like girl’s girls!”
A Netflix talk show, Justin Theroux’s sweatpants and Brangelina’s implosion three years later, and it’s no surprise that Handler is still staunchly Team Jennifer Aniston, who filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2005 after reports of an affair with Angelina Jolie surfaced. It was even rumored that Pitt refused to visit Handler’s now-defunct series “Chelsea Lately” because of her allegiance to Aniston.
On Wednesday, Handler addressed the Brangelina split in a new clip from her Netflix talk show shared on social media.
“Brad and Angelina always said they wouldn’t get married until everyone could get married,” said Handler. “And I always said I wouldn’t get married until they got divorced, so I’m officially accepting proposals. I’m ready.”
Since news of the divorce made the internet rounds, many have speculated over the reason behind the split, ranging from differing parenting styles, anger issues, and abuse of drugs and alcohol.
In her address, Handler essentially blamed Jolie for driving Pitt to “self-medicate” because of her non-traditional lifestyle and ever-growing brood.
“There are rumors that part of the problem was that Brad was allegedly drinking and smoking too much weed. I wonder why he would need to self-medicate,” she added. “Maybe because he could have been spending the last 12 years at Lake Como hanging out with George Clooney and Matt Damon, instead of being stuck in a house with 85 kids speaking 15 different languages. Oh, yeah, because he married a f**king lunatic, that’s why.”
“But we should all respect their privacy during this very difficult time,” she continued. “So this will be the last time I speak of this on TV. You can follow me on Twitter.”
