The sprawling Gold Coast mansion belonging to one of Chicago's most powerful philanthropists hit the market at an astonishingly lofty price tag last week.

Ann Lurie, 68, has listed her Chicago home for sale, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The 18,590-square-foot mansion -- complete with 12 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, an elevator and stunning vintage stained glass and millwork -- was built in 1891 and sits on a massive lot spanning an "unparalleled" almost half-acre, according to its listing with Koenig & Strey.

The home's $18.75 million price tag is also relatively unparalleled for the Chicago-area real estate as less than a handful of other listings surpass its listing price. Among them: the 89th-floor penthouse of the Trump Tower ($32 million) and the "Le Grand Reve" mansion in Winnetka ($21.9 million -- just more than $11 million less than its peak listing price).

The annual property tax bill for the Lurie mansion? $134,000.

Lurie's foundation -- which also bears the name of Ann's late husband, Robert H. Lurie, who died of colon cancer in 1990 -- has been responsible for some incredible generous charitable contributions through the years including $100 million to build the city's new children's hospital -- which bares the Luries' names -- and $30 million for a health care clinic in Kenya, according to the Tribune.
