Anna Holmes Reacts To Urban Outfitters Not Carrying 'The Book Of Jezebel'

Jezebel Founding Editor Reacts To Urban Outfitters Not Carrying 'The Book Of Jezebel'

Anna Holmes, founder of the female-centric and often provocative website Jezebel, stopped by HuffPost Live to talk about her new book "The Book of Jezebel."

Touching on everything from acne to virginity to nostalgia pieces, Holmes' new book is an illustrated encyclopedia that reads as snarky and hilarious as the site itself. So it's not surprising that men have taken to the book, as well.

"I think a lot of men would enjoy this," Holmes told HuffPost Live's Nancy Redd. "A lot of men enjoy the site itself. So it's not specific to women. It's about women, but I wouldn't say it's for women only."

Holmes also reacted to Urban Outfitter's decision not to carry the book in response to the site's negative coverage of the retailer over the years.

She doesn't seem fazed, telling Redd, "Was I surprised? I don't think that anyone should be expected to carry anything. I guess I was surprised that they were hurt by some of the coverage about them on the site, because the site sort of goes after everybody."

"And as someone else said," Holmes continued, "it's sort of a rite of passage as a fashion company to get burned on Jezebel. We don't kiss asses, I'll put it that way. So I'm disappointed that they're not carrying it but plenty of other retailers have it."
