Anne Hathaway At The Kennedy Center Honors: Brilliant Or Boring? (PHOTOS, POLL)

PHOTOS: Anne Hathaway (And Her Ring!) Sparkle

She may not be an official honoree, but Anne Hathaway got some serious attention at the Kennedy Center Honors dinner.

Hathaway and her new fiance, Adam Shulman, walked the red carpet in Washington D.C. for the first time since their engagement last week. The occasion was the Kennedy Center Honors, a weekend-long celebration of the country's most accomplished performers culminating in a formal awards ceremony tonight hosted by President Obama.

Last night, the stars posed for photos at a celebratory dinner. Anne joined honorees Yo-Yo Ma, Meryl Streep, Neil Diamond, saxophonist Sonny Rollins and Broadway singer Barbara Cook on the carpet -- and though she looked quite lovely, she didn't necessarily outshine them.

Anne had her sparkling engagement ring on, but her look was rather plain: a simple black strapless column by Giambattista Valli, a choker of intricately hung diamonds, a strong red lip and pulled-back hair. Her orange-red nail varnish provided pops of color, but other than that she kept the whole ensemble simple.

Take a look at the photos below. Was Anne's outfit a little blah, or is the simple look simply brilliant?
