Ariel Winter Calls Out Press For Missing The Point Of Her Recent Interview

"I don’t need to defend anything I’m super happy and in love, and I’m not firing at anyone just sharing an opinion after being ASKED!"

Ariel Winter would like to clarify some things for the press.

On Wednesday, Refinery29 published an interview with the “Modern Family” actress, in which she talks openly about her journey to self-love and acceptance. However, various press outlets chose to focus on Winter’s comments about her relationship with with 29-year-old Levi Meadon, saying she was “defending” their age gap. Other outlets focused on her comments about Donald Trump, claiming she was “fighting back” against the president.

True to Winter’s style, she proceeded to call out those who missed the message with a post on Instagram.

“Y’all I love you but PLEASE pay attention and post my REAL point from my @refinery29 interview!!! Not that I’m ‘defending living with my 29 year old boyfriend’ or that I’m ‘firing back at Trump’ because first of all I don’t need to defend anything I’m super happy and in love, and I’m not firing at anyone just sharing an opinion after being ASKED!” she wrote.

She continued, “The point was to take back the beach and help people understand that the beach should be a safe space to go as you please and feel good about yourself no matter what!”

Winter has long been an outspoken advocate for body confidence, so it makes sense that she would want to make her message loud and clear. The actress has been the target of relentless body-shaming and criticism over her social media sharing ― most recently on Memorial Day weekend ― but she never lets the haters win.
