Melvin Sokolsky's 'Bubble and Fly' Series Reminds Us Of A Fashion Forward Fairy Tale (PHOTOS)

Women... In Bubbles

Once upon a time in a faraway land called Paris, a beautiful maiden was trapped in a bubble, doomed to forever float around the cobblestone streets in haute couture. This is the narrative we are imagining when we look at Melvin Sokolsky's photography, which is somewhere between a fairy tale and a fashion editorial. The series, called "Bubble and Fly" was shot in the 1960s over the hazy black-and-white Parisian streets.

If you have 44 minutes to spare we recommend watching Sokolsky's interview about his work below. For the abridged version, take this nugget of wisdom: "Concept is important. Talent is important... The tools, the hammers and saws, and if they got a zillion megapixel camera, that's not going to help you. What is going to help you is a good idea."

Watch Paris at its most magical in the photos below and let us know if you would risk asphyxiation for high fashion in the comments.
