As the benefit season continues throughout November, two essential museum events to attend on the circuit are the Guggenheim's International Gala honoring Ellsworth Kelly and Julie Mehretu on November 8th, and the MoMA Film Benefit paying tribute to director Kathryn Bigelow on November 10th. Outside of the museums, Performa's Red Party is inspired by the artists of the Russian Revolution, but "sweetly" features the dessert creations of artist Jennifer Rubell. This week's must attend event is hosted by Alec Baldwin, Carey Lowell and Richard Gere. It is the ArtWalk NY event benefiting the Coalition for the Homeless.

This month also delivers fairs and festivals from the worlds of publishing, documentary film-making and performance art. The IFPDA Print Fair celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and showcases over eighty dealers presenting an extensive and diverse collection of fine art prints, as well as hosting panel discussions and tours led by curators and artists. If you prefer moving image over print, the DOCNYU documentary film festival hosts a week of screenings encompassing various forms of documentary storytelling including humor, memoir and reportage.
