Australian Open Dead Spot 2012: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Hits Dead Spot On Serve (VIDEO)

WATCH: Dead Spot Found At Australian Open

It happened again. During a fourth round match at the Australian Open, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga rifled a 120-mph serve toward his opponent Nei Nishikori. That the ball skipped by Nishikori was not such a surprise but the path it took raised some eyebrows. The ball barely bounced off the ground -- because it happened to strike a dead spot on the court at Hisense Arena.

Despite being unable to reach that low bounce, the 22-year-old Nishikori relied on his speed and stamina to defeat the No. 6 seed in five draining sets.

Just like last year at the tennis major Down Under when Maria Sharapova discovered a dead spot, staffers had to drill holes into the court to get rid of the air bubble under the surface.

Unlike last year, however, the video footage isn't nearly as cool to watch.
