Baltimore Task Force Pushes For $2.8B For Neglected Schools Needing Heat

While one school in Baltimore may be debating how to best spend $40M on a beautiful new building, other inner city schools are in desperate need of basic facility upgrades.

According to The Baltimore Sun, many school buildings in the city lack functional heating and air conditioning systems, windows that open and electrical wiring that would allow for computers to be used.

Baltimore isn't the only city with deteriorating buildings. Urban and impoverished communities across the nation have run down schools, but Baltimore leaders are now taking a stab at the problem.

A new task force announced by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Baltimore Schools CEO Andres Alonso will address the $2.8 billion needed to renovate the city's decrepit school buildings.
