'Banksy | War Boutique': Two Sides Of The Street

The Andipa Gallery in London is selling the works of two urban art non-conformists, Banksy and War Boutique, in a specular show of some of Banksy's most iconic pieces as well as new works from War Boutique.

Notoriously secretive and Academy Award-nominated Banksy is paired with up and coming War Boutique for this exhibition. Both artists explore complex themes in their work, including consumerism, government and war.

Bankys' piece "Go Flock Yourself" comments upon the divisive nature of street art, surely a reference to himself and his contemporaries.

War Boutique uses armor and creates beautiful pieces of art, showing how war can give way to peace. According to the Andipa Gallery, "[War Boutique] symbolically transforms instruments of war and destruction into constructive items embodying creativity, peace and critical social commentary." His work has been featured in photo shoots with the late Alexander McQueen and he has collaborated with the royal and military tailor, Gieves & Hawkes. War Boutique has previously worked with Banksy for his "Bansky Versus Bristol Museum" show.

"Banksy | War Boutique," Andipa Gallery, 162 Walton St., Knightsbridge, London SW3 2JL, through July 9, 2011.
