After well over a year of flirting with each other, Barcelona and Valencia striker David Villa came to terms that will see "El Guaje" come to Catalunya for four years, €40 million.

This ended the speculation of the possible, especially after the Spanish international's Blaugrana move was thwarted last summer; paving the way for former Inter Capo Zlatan Ibrahimovic to wear the blaugrana jersey.

Outgoing FCB president Joan Laporta confirmed on Monday that the negotiation were underway and that he wanted to have this deal done this week in an effort to give the player peace of mind about his future and to help him focus more on the upcoming World Cup.

Villa, 28, has been one of the most lethal strikers of the past decade. Since his arrival to the Spanish top flight with Zaragoza back in 2003 and his move to Valencia, Villa has scored 170 goals. To have him now in the same lineup with reigning European Golden Boot and FIFA World Player of the Year Lio Messi, Bojan Krkic, and Pedro will further bolster the culé offense that was second in Spain with 96 goals, behind only Real Madrid's 102. It will also put him in prime position to further stock his personal trophy case which only has a Copa del Rey in its inventory.

This transfer sets the stage for an apparent departure of Swedish international Ibrahimovic, who scored 21 goals this season for the blaugrana, but was often criticized for his scoring swoons and erratic form, especially after starting the season with 12 goals.

Barcelona are still not done looking to upgrade the team. They are also looking to shore up their midfield and Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is at the top of their list.
