Bay Bridge Crane Collapses On New Eastern Span, No Injuries Reported

WATCH: Crane Collapses Off The Bay Bridge

A crane working on the new eastern span of the San Francisco Bay Bridge toppled off a barge on Thursday afternoon, according to ABC news. No injuries were reported as of 1:45 p.m.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the large crane, which was bolted to the barge, was working on the north side of the span when it tipped at 12:15 p.m. At least one strut appeared to fall on a nearby barge.

Bystanders tweeted photos of the fallen crane, which reportedly did not enter the water or spill pollutants into the bay.

According to KRON, the incident is not expected to delay the bridge's opening.
