Ten Movie Scenes Rejected As A Means Of Psyching Up The GOP To Continue The Debt Ceiling Kabuki

As previously reported, the fake debt ceiling negotiations that are imperiling America have gotten so ridiculous that now the GOP caucus is straight up having movie night slumber parties to get themselves psyched up for a few days more of pretending that the only way to make a tough choice in Washington, D.C. is to stage a transparently dumb piece of political theatre.

In this case, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy went with a scene from Ben Affleck's The Town, a movie about bank robbers in Boston, in which Affleck's character asks his friend to come with him to beat someone up:

One character asks his friend: "I need your help. I can't tell you what it is. You can never ask me about it later."

"Whose car are we gonna take," the [other] character says.

After watching the scene, Florida misogynist Representative Allen West replied, "I'm ready to drive the car." (And, presumably, PAHK it in HAHVAHD YAHD.) Why identify with a bunch of murderous gangsters? Wish I knew! But as it turns out, there were worse choices they could have made:
