Mars. Venus. Pluto. Real estate virtually out of this world, literally. For some of us, out-of-space travel is merely an unfulfilled fantasy. However, Zayden Wright was able to "blast off", all thanks to the virtual reality technology that is becoming more common placed in our real estate transactions and lives. You are probably wondering, "What technology can possibly overlap in real estate transactions and send someone out of space?"

Nearly a year ago, TRICK 3D unveiled at SXSW its visionary technology to allow prospective home buyers and renters the opportunity to virtually explore an available home. I thought then they would have to do something "out of this world" to top it. TRICK 3D has.

On May 1, 2017, TRICK 3D launched a first-of-its-kind virtual experience, making the wishes of a seven-year-old heart patient, Zayden Wright, come true. Zayden Wright has lived with congenital heart disease since birth, undergoing 38 echocardiograms, six heart catheterizations, and four open heart surgeries in his young life.

I can't help but wonder what happens to a child's hope in such instances.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick; but when dreams come true at last, there is life and joy. Proverb

How important it must be to keep dreaming and to see some of those dreams come true. Enter, Make-A-Wish Georgia.

Make-A-Wish Georgia asked Zayden what he wanted in the entire world, he replied that he wished to blast off to outer space and visit Saturn in a red rocket ship. Thankfully there are several individuals and companies that think Beyond Transactions. Zayden, from the Marietta, Ga. Dobbins Air Reserve Base (the largest multi-service reserve training base in the world), was guided by Commander LeRoy Chiao, a former NASA astronaut and founder of educational not-for-profit OneOrbit, to Mars virtually.

"Zayden's Wish" was made possible by Make-A-Wish Georgia, TRICK 3D studios, OneOrbit, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, UP TV and a squadron of volunteers affectionately called, “Zayden’s Squadron.” "Zayden's Wish" was the first-ever VR wish to be granted but likely not the last.

Like Zayden, over 27,000 children have been diagnosed annually with life-threatening illnesses. Every 34 minutes, on average, a wish is granted to one of those children through the coordination of Make-A-Wish, which grants wishes in 36 countries across the world. Ninety-eight percent of wish parents report that a granted wish fosters a sense of hope and an improved outlook, as well as an enhancement in the overall mental and emotional health of their child. Just in the state of Georgia, 700 wishes are waiting to be granted. Interested in going Beyond Transactions too? Learn more about the Make-A-Wish® Foundation by clicking here.
