Have you ever been captured by the warmth and brightness of a person's smile? I always am. A smile is the first thing that slightly endears me to a person even before I know him/her. It leaves a lasting first impression. I dare say it's one of the very few things that determine how long my conversation will last with such person. I believe it's almost the same for a great number of us. Imagine what you get to feel when the smile of the next person makes you feel like you're in a horror movie.

I've had quite a few run-ins with the dentist and a few times I see children come in with braces. All I thought then was, it's just a fashion accessory for cool kids but as I grew older, I knew better. Interestingly braces are usually used to improve a patient's "orofacial" appearance and overall dental health. I added that my list until I was told I didn't really need it. However, there was no harm in knowing what exactly it was.

In my quest for more knowledge I came across some kids who used Invisalign as well. It is said that the best time to start these treatments, is from a young age. Imagine my excitement when I realized, just like the braces, they are designed to straighten teeth while increasingly improving your smile and oral health. Though from some Invisalign information I gathered, this treatment does not yet have the same history as braces. A huge advantage with Invisalign was the fact that it was removable. Although some may say it's not so much of an advantage as it may encourage temptation to leave them out.

Whether or not one is more effective than the other is clearly up to the orthodontist to advise. However, if you're an adult or have a teen who tends to be self-conscious, Invisalign may appeal to you. I love the versatility that's seen in designs of braces and Invisalign. You or your child deserve the right to a sparkling show stopping smile.

Straightening your teeth to improve your smile and general health shouldn't be taken lightly. It should be on the front burner of your overall physical health and hygiene, as it's one of the first thing people see on your face. It's best to start as early as possible to give yourself and your child a healthy and enviable set of teeth.
