'Breaking Bad' Split Season: Final Episodes Will Air With Break

'Breaking Bad' Gets Split Season

"Breaking Bad's" final run on AMC will be a split season. According to EW, series star Bryan Cranston confirmed the split season is happening.

Cranston told EW from the New Mexico set that the show will shoot the first eight episodes, then take a four-month production break. The rest of the episodes will air the following year, according to Cranston.

AMC has not officially announced the split final season decision, nor have they announced a premiere date, but July is the speculated month for "Breaking Bad's" debut.

"The Walking Dead" recently aired its second season in two parts and found ratings success. The first part wrapped in November, the second part started in February. The show debuted to more than 7 million viewers in October 2011 and ended its Season 2 with an audience of 9 million viewers. However, its break wasn't as long as the proposed scenario from Cranston.

EW reports such a break would possibly allow "Breaking Bad" to be eligible in two awards cycles.

What's up in the world of Walter White? Cranston said the Season 5 premiere, whenever that may be, picks up right where Season 4 left off. "We're cleaning up the pieces from last season's huge ordeal where Gus Fring was forced to meet his maker," he told EW. "It's not as easy as Walter thought."

How will it all end? Aaron Paul told Vulture the finale "does involve a death, and possible deaths," he teased. "Definitely people dying."
