Brendan Steele: Tiger Woods Didn't Give Everything He Had At Farmers Insurance Open

Rookie Criticizes Tiger Woods' Effort

Tiger Woods had the worst season debut of his career at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines and one golfer says he thinks he knows why.

PGA Tour rookie Brendan Steele, who was paired with Woods in the final round, told Sports Illustrated that Woods lost interest once he started to struggle on Sunday.

"I don't think he gave it everything today," Steele said on Monday. "Once it started going in the wrong direction, I don't think it had his full attention."

Woods began the first tournament of the year with two good rounds, but only made four total birdies over the weekend. He also recorded nine bogeys and finished the tournament out of the top 40.

"I hit it as pure as I could possibly hit it starting out, and got nothing out of it," Woods said on Sunday. "As the round went on, I progressively got worse with my golf swing. And ironically enough, felt better and better with the putter. So it's one of those things."
