Down the road from Porch and Parlour is beachside brunch spot Speedos, whose menu varies from the cleanest of plates to the tastiest of treats - both of which I’ve sampled during my time in Bondi. And while the protein power plate is a undoubtedly tasty; for me their cronuts - complete with syringe full of chocolate sauce - are the cafe’s pièce de résistance.
And if you’re after the Sydney-staple that is smashed-avo, few places do it better than Lox Stock and Barrel. Bustling with surfers, yogis and families-alike, Lox Stock and Barrel is located on Curlewis Street and boasts an old-school, lever-powered manual piston coffee machine and a charming courtyard at its rear. With black-top tables, a white-tiled counter and a massive, open kitchen along the back wall, its vibe is more Euro-canteen than Bondi Beach chic and with four varieties of bagel baked onsite every day, the menu a carb lovers’ dream.
