The Buena Vista Social Club and Jake Shimabukuro are living legends of musical and documentary film fame, and both will be appearing in October at Seattle's Paramount Theatre. I first learned about The Buena Vista Social Club watching German filmmaker Wim Wenders 1999 documentary in which he followed Ry Cooder and his son Joachim to Cuba where they assembled a group of the country's best musicians to record an album eventually titled The Buena Vista Social Club. These musicians went on to become global icons, and they're now brining their Adios Tour to Seattle's Paramount Theatre on October 2.

Three weeks later, we Seattleites get to experience documentary musical star and ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro when takes the stage with his uke to entertain and amaze us with his prowess. I first learned about Shimabukuro watching the 2012 PBS documentary Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings, which portrays Shimabukuro's meteoric rise to fame as well as the trials and tribulations of the young musician both at home and on the road.

This great musical group on it's Adios Tour and singular star that continues to rise will be providing those of us in Seattle with two rare and unique opportunities that most likely will never again occur. It's our chance to witness two amazing musical talents only weeks apart, and neither of these is to be missed.
