Candace Smyth, D.C. Resident, On Her Grandfather's Suicide: 'He Was The One That Could See Me' (VIDEO)

'He Was The One That Could See Me'

In March, The Huffington Post began talking to teens and adults throughout the U.S. about their experiences with gun violence. This is one individual's story. See others here.

Candace Smyth, 40, lost her grandfather to suicide when she was 13 years old. Her grandfather sat in a rocking chair and shot himself on a Tuesday after spending the weekend with Smyth and some of his other grandchildren. She can still see the bullet hole in the living room ceiling when she visits her grandmother. In the video above, she shares her story with The Huffington Post's Jason Cherkis.
