Bon anniversaire! French First Lady Carla Bruni turns 44 today, capping off a whirlwind year.

2011 has been a big one for Carla, and not only because she acted in one of the year's most stylish films, "Midnight In Paris." She and husband Nicolas Sarkozy, the president of France, had their first child together. But before little Giulia could be born, the French first lady endured a year of baby bump watching and pregnancy denying.

Of course it was plain to see that Carla was pregnant: her fashion broadcasted it to the world. Her slim Dior dresses and cinched-in waists came to replaced by looser pants, blouses and overcoats. But it was the revealing outfits that gave it away: the former model stepped out in chic bikinis with her bump de bébé on full display.

Now that Carla is a mum again, her style has taken a more casual turn. Carla's picked yoga pants, ponchos and jeans since she gave birth in October, pairing her new look with looser hair and a more laid-back demeanor. And while we miss Carla's classic French chic, we have to admit: we're loving this new chilled-out look.
